How close should a pop filter be to a microphone?

Your plosives send more than the usual amount of airflow in the direction of your microphone. A pop filter is designed to “capture” that air and diffuse it.

If you put your pop filter right against your microphone, it isn’t doing you any good, so keep anywhere from 3-6 inches between your pop filter and your microphone.

To further prevent “pops”, you should keep your microphone off-axis.
